This is one where the cover definitely seduced me. I didn't realize I was getting myself into a boarding school fantasy/romance.

I think one of my biggest complaints was the lack of powers and magic being used. The main character is in a class for learning to use her powers and yet she only learns from her colleagues... never the teacher. The class seems to be there solely for the students to fight each other. Which made no sense.

There is the usual lack of communication between the main characters and I didn't completely believe their ‘friendship' especially since he was/is such a dick. I don't know about you all, but a male lead who has never had a healthy relationship before falling for the MC is not swoon-worthy, it is a bit worrisome... OH BY THE WAY TW: Cheating – I'm sure this will be explained in the next book, but seriously... no excuse.
Information is also withheld from the heroine by practically everyone, including the only family she has left. Exactly what she needs in a new universe.

But, I did finish this. The writing is easy to read and there are some great scenes. If you're looking for a lighter read to indulge in, this isn't a bad option. While I probably won't continue the series, I wouldn't discourage people from trying this one.
