Book Review: Sentenced to Murder by Sue Minix
Rating: 4 Stars
I recently had the pleasure of reviewing Sentenced to Murder by Sue Minix, and it was quite the page-turner! This cozy mystery, the latest in the The Bookstore Mystery series, had me hooked from the very first chapter.
The story follows Jen, a writer who is just about to dive into her next murder mystery novel when she stumbles upon a real-life case that sends chills down her spine. A man named Jaylon is claiming he's been wrongfully convicted of murder, and as fate would have it, he's running out of time. Jaylon needs a kidney transplant to survive, but being behind bars for a crime he insists he didn't commit complicates matters significantly. Jen's curiosity kicks in, and she finds herself drawn into a race against time as she tries to untangle the truth behind Jaylon's conviction. The stakes couldn't be higher—can Jen use her amateur sleuthing skills to save Jaylon before his situation becomes a death sentence?
What I love about this book is how well it balances the elements of suspense and character development. The pacing is just right; it never felt rushed or dragged out. Minix has a knack for crafting a well-plotted mystery that keeps you guessing until the very end. I found myself genuinely invested in the characters, most of whom are quite likable. Jen's determination and resourcefulness shine through as she navigates the complexities of the case, making it easy to root for her.
Overall, Sentenced to Murder is a delightful read that I would recommend to anyone looking for a perfect cozy mystery—especially on a rainy day when you just want to curl up with a good book. It's engaging, well-written, and leaves you wanting more from this series. If you enjoy a well-constructed plot with a touch of intrigue and relatable characters, this book might just be what you're looking for!
I'm giving it four stars out of five—definitely worth your time!
