I read this book after watching the show, and maybe that is unfair of me. But, simply put, I didn't enjoy it and didn't finish it. I totally admit that I enjoyed the show more, and totally admit my critique might have been different had I read the book first and watched the show later.
Such a funny abbreviated writing style - it feels like the TV series I think (l know I've seen one or two - or that movie with Cameron Diaz? The Sweetest Thing) Very of place and time and enormously depressing re : relationships. Not a romance because no traditional HEA but makes sense for the character I think. If it does depress you you can follow it up with No One Tells You This by Glennis MacNicol - a memoir by one of the aforementioned older successful New York City women.
