the book itself is not 1 star.
I was enjoying the first 40~ percent at a 3-star rating, and then it all went down. I got completely lost. I have no understanding of America's relationship with 9/11 or its music history so I did not understand a thing. I should have given it up but really wanted to finish it or “have it read” since the storygraph recs pushed it on me and it really seemed like something I would have liked had my knowledge been fitting. It was a slog to go through but I did really enjoy the writing style.
