No hard feelings, this just didn't turn out to be my cup of tea.

I really loved Ariana Nash's writing; I can't think of a specific reason for it, but her writing just sounded so pleasing to me.

This is a book filled with torture, rape, slavery, etc. (please look at the trigger warnings before picking this up!) which obviously in an of itself isn't bad at all given that it's serving a purpose, but I just got so exhausted of reading sex scene after rape scene over and over again that halfway through the book I just kept going “ah shit here we go again” whenever yet another sex scene or what not was going on. I guess it felt too gratuitous? I didn't see the point of it other than shock value or for the sake of having copious amounts of smut

I also just didn't feel invested in any character at all. Nothing bad about them that I can point out, I just didn't care, that's all, which unfortunately translated to me feeling nothing for the romance either.
