Kids love scary books. It's fairly easy for a school librarian to find books for upper elementary kids, but what about for those children who are just taking on text, kids who are eight or nine?

This series, Tiptoe into Scary Cities, is the perfect level of scary for our younger readers, with kid-friendly text, colorful pictures, and, most importantly, a bit of scariness. It has all the elements of good nonfiction—indexes, captions, labels, a glossaries—for children as they learn how to validate what is factual in the world.
