This book would be the perfect jumping off point for someone who was looking to learn more about the social inequalities Black woman are trying to overcome and fight against. It very well written with facts interspersed with anecdotes from a myriad of focus groups or interviews with people at various events. Even having read several books about the subject there were still points I hadn't thought of before and information I felt I benefitted from learning. Moments of “oh yes, why did I never see that before” and “that makes so much sense” ran through my mind many times. And like many books like this, despite feeling angry and sometimes incredibly sad, I still felt hopeful at the end. If we continue to not only educate ourselves but put that education into action we can push back at the system and make change happen.
