Jan. 2020 EditJust did a re-read on this one in anticipation for [b:My Maddie 27212272 My Maddie (Hades Hangmen, #8) Tillie Cole https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1574425279l/27212272.SY75.jpg 47254148]! Every time I read this book, I just fall more in love with the characters. 6-StarsWow, where do I even Start with this book? This is hands-down in my top five THREE favorite books list. I loved every part of this book with every fucking inch of my soul.Flame-Let me just say that I LOVE fucked up characters. They're my favorite because they add more depth to the story. I love that Flame wasn't normal, I love that Flame couldn't be touched, I love that the only emotion that he felt comfortable in was anger. & then Maddie came along and wrecked his world, in the best possible way.Maddie-She is by far, my favorite female character in the series. She is so wise at such a young age, which is understandable because of what she went through. She was treated the worst in the commune, so she also has a fear of being touched.I love that this book wasn't filled with sex. It was more about two people falling in love and overcoming their faults and more importantly their fears. There was so much emotion from both characters. I honestly don't know who's past was worse. I just loved the part when they first began touching and exploring each other in a nonsexual way. I love how Flame is so protective of Maddie, honestly he's obsessed with her & that's ok because she needs him to be. It's what makes their relationship work so well. When they touch each other in front of the club, I love how everyone gets so surprised. The ending IMO was perfect. I couldn't have thought of a better way to end it. There is absolutely nothing that I would change about this book, I just want more Maddie and Flame!!! I hope that eventually she does a book on Asher, I think that could be real intriguing...Kinda like if flame was normal, this is how he would've been. Side note: If you loved this book as much as I did, I strongly recommend reading Lover Awakened by J.R. Ward. It's not an MC novel, it's paranormal romance. But the main character, Zsadist has a lot in common with Flame. Zsadist is actually more aggressive than Flame. (Yes, I just said that!) The book is a part of the Black Dagger Brotherhood series, which is a phenomenal series and I would strongly recommend it, just like I would recommend Hades Hangmen! WARNING: This series is not for the faint of heart, the stuff that goes down at the cult is super fucked up. If you get uneasy reading about dark, taboo things. I would probably stay away from this series. Also, this book could definitely trigger someone who has had a similar experience. It is very detailed and can paint a very vivid picture in your mind.
