I was drawn to this book because of the title, it speaks of cosmic horror and utter bleakness, 2 of my favorite things in fiction. It did not disappoint, there's a little bit of Lovecraftian horror, a lot of bleak ending, some scenes of excellent body horror and all of that in a tidy little package that suits the attention span lacking reader I am most perfectly.
Full disclosure, the main reason I'm giving this little collection 5 stars is the Sunfish story, the rest of the stories could have been utter drivel and I probably would have still gone with 5 stars because of how much I loved that particular story.
That being said, while I also enjoyed the other stories I feel like I need to include a warning about a certain story, Human Kindling. If you have unresolved issues with someone who gaslit you into thinking that you were always not just a problem but THE problem you might find yourself unsure if you're a Lucy or if you've dealt with one and that's not a feeling I recommend so approach with caution if you're recovering from emotional abuse in the context of a romantic relationship. I agree with the author on one thing here, dating is hell, literally.
