The first Star Wars book I've ever read and I was totally blown away. I'm one of the guys that actually likes the prequels..not near as much as the originals which I was raised on, but I was young enough when Episode I came out to realize that it kinda sucked haha so it's always had a special place in my heart. Now, after reading this book, I have a new appreciation for Episode I and really for the rest of the prequels, because this books basically explains everything that Lucas failed to explain..what the heck the Trade Federation is and why they were blockading The Naboo, where Palpatine/Sidious came from and his rise to power, where Dooku came from and his ties to the story, why at the beginning of Episode II there was a crisis involving separatists threatening to secede..the list goes on and on. Also, you get to see the inner workings of the Republic and the dirty underhanded politics that plagued it towards the fall of the Republic. It was sorta House of Cards meets Star Wars in some ways. Also you learn a lot about the Sith and their origins. Really such an amazing book. Highly recommend it to anyone interested in Star Wars.
