This is the third “Tom Buckingham” story, but my first Andy McNab book. The novel sees Britain reaching a tipping point. Terrorist acts have turned hearts and minds against the Muslim community. Enter a dodgy but charismatic, Tump-like politician who seems to have all the answers. Of course, nothing is as it seems.
As quick as a flash, people are getting shot. Buckingham rains down punches on the faces of various undesirables. Wall-to-wall mayhem ensures. Bullets fly. Explosions! Tom swings in, shooter blazing, to save the day. Get the girl. Rescue the hostages. Worse still, the twists and turns also involve the fiendish Russians too! You've seen it all before.
Now, this isn't Shakespeare. There are plot holes. Parts of the book seem to exist only to explain threads which are dangling and unresolved. Buckingham is rather two-dimensional too. But try to ignore these issues and enjoy the tale for what it is. Its chewing-gum for the brain. The story rattles along at a great pace and I enjoyed it. I probably would have liked it more had I read the two previous Buckingham stories. So ...
An undemanding read which I can recommend!
