In the city of Olympus, people only speak about Medusa in whispers.
In the city of Olympus, people only speak about Medusa in whispers. She’s Athena’s knife hand, the one sent when Athena wants someone to disappear. No one asks Medusa what she wants, but she owes Athena her life, and if staining her hands with blood is the only way to repay the debt, it’s a small price to pay.
Until Athena sends her after Calypso, the mistress of the rich politician Odysseus. As far as Medusa can tell, Calypso hasn’t done anything remotely worthy of a death sentence, and her conflicted feelings only get compounded when she finally sees the woman. Calypso is beautiful and cunning and she’ll do anything to keep her life—including seducing her would-be assassin.
What starts as a ploy to escape quickly spirals into genuine interest. Medusa is hardly the cold killer that rumors suggest, and Calypso is far more complicated than her reputation as a ruthless gold-digger.
But it doesn’t matter that they’ve finally found something special together. Athena will have her blood, and this time not even crossing the River Styx will save them…

I really enjoyed the Stone Heart prequel novella of the Dark Olympus series! It was quick and captivating, and I loved learning more about Medusa and Calypso. I really liked the angle of Medusa not being able to go through with assassinating Calypso and them seeing the beauty in each other, even in a situation like this.
The way Medusa and Calpyso were described was great, and I loved how it panned out.
Overall, I really enjoyed the Stone Heart Novella by Katee Robert and am excited to continue on in the Dark Olympus series!

This was my first read by Katee Robert and I definitely enjoyed it a lot. I loved the LGBTQ+ and POC rep in it soooo much.
Plus... Calypso and Medusa?!? Hell yeah, I'm sold!!!
Keeping this one short and sweet- definitely read this if you like spice, greek mythology, forbidden romance.
There are so many things that rub me the wrong way about Katee's writing. Not just that it's bad writing in general, but the way every spicy scene for every book I've read has a huge element of insecurity and unworthy bullshit inner monologuing for one or both of the characters involved. It's also the way she describes the look of her characters by race first when they live in a fantasy setting. It's that feeling of it feels racist even though it's not racist. Just weirds me out. None of her characters have a different voice even though the POV changes for every chapter. I just want to know why there isn't an editing process and how so many books have happened without the writing getting any better. I hate that I own this all of the books currently published for this series. I'm forcing myself through it because I feel like I'm in desperate need to find at least one good book or even redeemable scene so I understand the vice grip she holds over the booktok community.
