This review is for Her Hidden Beauty
by Rose Pearson
Miss Mary Huntsford, daughter of an aristocratic family, has always been told that she is plain.
Her mother finds no value in her, preferring to spend her time, money and affection on Bettina and Sarah, her beautiful (self-centred) twins.
When the London Season starts, the family attend with hopes of splendid matches for the twins.
Unfortunately, neglect and distain have beaten Mary's spirits down, so that she has no hope of any kind of match, splendid or otherwise.
Viscount Benedict Northwick loses a bet to his friend. The consequence is to court the plainest woman in London Society, namely Mary Huntsford. The goal being to induce her to declare her love for him. Then he can leave her!
In this Regency retelling of Cinderella, will Mary find her hope again and will Benedict turn out to be a “Prince” or a “Toad”?
Delightful short story.
