"Kendra C. Highley is at the top of my list for insta-buy, must-read, and I-need-that-book-now authors!" —Moriah Chavis, A Leisure Moment Outfielder Tristan Murrell has a problem. As the number two slugger for the Suttonville Sentinels, his team is counting on him to make their very first run at the state championship. But he has a secret—his swing has totally deserted him. Lately, he can’t hit anything. He needs to fix the issue and fast...but how? Ballerina Alyssa Kaplan has a problem, too. The gleaming new sports complex in town has left her family’s batting cage business on the verge of going under. Nailing her audition for a prestigious dance company is everything, but there’s no way she’s letting some shiny, big-box company destroy her family’s livelihood. Tristan needs a miracle. So does Alyssa. And maybe, just maybe, Tristan’s secret weapon might be the girl of his dreams... Hands down, the first book is more cute, but this one is still so, so good.
We have another ballerina and baseball player– both featured a bit in the first book, but Alyssa has knowledge of baseball and they aren't hiding secrets from each other... just from their friends. Secret dating isn't really my thing, nor is not dating to make other people happy, so that was an annoyance for me at times, but they were just so, so cute.
Tristan is a dream and Alyssa is super down to Earth. They mesh so well, but I did think they got together a bit too quickly. And Tristan's cure is a bit weak, in my opinion. I wish it was just a tiny tiny bit different.
This is another cute, feel-good story that had me squealing and smiling away. If I don't judge it against the first it is still so amazing.
