Just didn't feel the chemistry between the two MCs, despite the unique setup. Thierry was the bodyguard of Pietro's former boyfriend, and he punched Pietro in the mouth because he and the boyfriend both thought Pietro was cheating. Pietro left, and shortly thereafter Thierry was shot and mostly paralyzed from the waist down. His dream of someday owning a restaurant runs headlong into Pietro's desire to hire a personal chef. There's a lot of focus on Thierry's adjustment to his life with a disability, and his efforts to become a better person. Pietro is also prone to self-flagellation for his recent diagnosis of ADHD and his guilt over becoming a rich and famous baseball star while his equally talented brother suffered a career-ending injury (Gabriel's story is told in [b:Nothing Ordinary 60071394 Nothing Ordinary (Hit and Run #0) E.M. That's a lot of angsting to digest, and it's hard for the love story to get enough air to flourish. Frankly, Pietro's friendship with his teammate Scooter feels more meaningful than the romance. Starting to think that this series is not for me, after my similarly lukewarm reaction to Nothing Ordinary. Still waiting on the next Irons and Works book though.
