Well written of course but all characters were hard to sympathise with, and DeMille tends to make all his women folk beautiful and sexy (a trend across all the books of his I've read), and - in this tale - still dependent on the men folk. I didn't like a single character in this story, and couldn't care less if all of them got blown to bits by the Russians.
