After reading the first book of the series I somewhat was looking for the story of another sister (the two left for the marriage market) instead I found Lady Evelyn (someone that was helped by Lady Rosalind Harrington and the Duke to be free of his cruel abusive/devil husband), and once more was helped by Rosalind to find a solution for her big problem - her aunt died and she needed to vacate the house and find a new way of living - but still afraid for her life, needed to be hiding... posing as Miss Bane, she seeks refuge as a governess in a Baron's household.
Baron James Ayles, haunted by the guilt that he was unable to save his wife, that died in a tragic accident by fire, locked away his heart, and lives only to his twins daughters and work needed to recover all the losses on the estate.
After being meek, submissive with her husband she discovers that she needs to express her feelings about what she thinks is right/better for the future of her pupils... and so it all began...
Slowly they start to see each other with another eyes and in the end after some troubles and miscommunication, they found a way to love...
When Lady Evelyn found love in the arms of her Baron she still had a problem, she didn't know if is formal first husband was still alive... after inquiring in London Baron James ask her to marry him and she was elated but... once more something bad happen... she was almost killed by fire, by a maid that she tought was her friend, and in that final moments she (the maid) confessed she was the one that kill the first wife of Baron James because she was the one that deserves to be married to the Baron.
Entrapped in her room Evelyn try to save herself but in the end she was helped by the Baron...
The emotional roller-coaster and the tension of secrets they both carry almost torn them apart but has adults they found the solution for their problems and the necessary healing of their souls.
And they live happily-ever-after as a family (we must not forget the adorable twins)...
