The setting of the island is great. There are no cars, so everything is by horse, bike, or walking. That adds a layer of interest when they have to go out after things. The fact that she can't ride a bike is a bit funny. Her relationship with the detective is more interesting than many others that I have read. The other characters around are really interesting. So I like the overall set up of the mysteries.
This particular mystery was pretty complicated. There were lots of moving parts that were easy to keep track of. I saw the solution coming a mile off, but the rescue was a little far fetched. The wrap up after that was a little too quick to be believably forgivable.
