From author Jescie Hall, comes this dark and demanding stalker romance that pushes all the boundaries of exploring sexuality while simultaneously exposing the harsh realities of organized religion. This book explores many dark topics. Please beware of the trigger warnings before reading. Your mental health matters.
Fornication is a sin.
As it reads, we should flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body.
They teach us that these thoughts, these actions, are immoral. But that dark side that lives inside all of us, the true nature of man, drives us to seek the need that burns within, demanding to be set free. Deep inside of our bones lies that intrinsic need, one desperate to escape. An innate behavior, seemingly out of our control.
One that screams for sins they tell us are condemning.
Aero is the throat from which I scream.
The dark parts of myself I want hidden from this world are all he sees when he gazes at me beneath yet another mask.
He’s the demon drowning me in my own underlying desires.
He may never stop. Not until I succumb to my truths, or die beneath the weight of his unrelenting grasp.
Because according to him, the life I’ve been living is a hell far worse than death.

yalllllll. if you haven't read this and like dark romance, don't walk.. RUN. READ IT. the twists. how dark it was. the SPICE. it was soo fucking good! i'm so mad it took me as long as it did to finally pick it up!! briony was such a bad ass!!! her and aero had (and still have) me in a complete chokehold!!! i love them SO much. but i'm not going to go into detail so definitely go in blind aside from checking trigger warnings!!
All I've learned from this book is that I will DNF for religion so fast but am a slut for stalker romances. All of the religion in the beginning made me so angry, it was too on the heels of another religious/purity/slut shaming book I read and I was about to call it quits and move onto something else. Then I got Aero's POV and I was back in.
I see a lot of reviews being either 5 stars or 1 star and comparing to Zade of HA, and let me say.. I love Zade and HD Carlton so much, but they are different characters. Everyone complaining “ZADE COULD NEVER” don't seem to understand the whole point of an origin story and why that makes their behavior incredibly different. Their motives, their backgrounds, their type... is entirely different. Just because someone has a gun, flowers, and is a stalker.. doesn't mean they are a cheap version of ZADDY.
Anyway, as long as you like rough, stalker romances and aren't hoping for everything to have a deep, emotional reason for every minute action like ZADE, you will probably enjoy this book. There were entirely too many moments that I was squealing like a schoolgirl and yelling at my friends to read this, in a way that didn't match the tone of what was happening in the book. Yes, I realize that I'm the problem. ... it's fine
