All good things come to an end. And this is it: the last stand of the Ketty Jay and her intrepid crew. They've been shot down, set up, double-crossed and ripped off. They've stolen priceless treasures, destroyed a ten-thousand-year-old Azryx city and sort-of-accidentally blew up the son of the Archduke. Now they've gone and started a civil war. This time, they're really in trouble. As Vardia descends into chaos, Captain Frey is doing his best to keep his crew out of it. He's got his mind on other things, not least the fate of Trinica Dracken. But wars have a way of dragging people in, and sooner or later they're going to have to pick a side. It's a choice they'll be staking their lives on. Cities fall and daemons rise. Old secrets are uncovered and new threats revealed. When the smoke clears, who will be left standing?

This was an absolutely perfect sendoff to the series. The stakes get raised even higher than they had in previous books, all the loose plotlines get tied up, and Frey and his crew get to be Big Damn Heroes one last time. I was sold on this series when it was originally described to me (as “Steampunk Firefly with airships”), but it managed to grow beyond any simple comparison or elevator pitch into a wonderful tale, and a wonderful crew of characters.
Love this book so much. Seriously, this was an epic end to an amazing series! But don't start here. If you want to read this series, start with the first book because while you'll still be able to understand it, this is the final climax and everything was such a payoff from the last three books.
I loved watching the characters develop over the course of the series and everyone has grown from where they were. And, I will admit, I feared for the life of nearly every character in here at least once - because they were ALL in danger.
Just love this book and am doing my best to convince everyone to start reading Retribution Falls - especially if you're a fan of the TV series Firefly!
