A deadly love triangle
Elena: beautiful and popular, the girl who can have any guy she wants.
Stefan: brooding and mysterious, desperately trying to resist his desire for Elena . . . for her own good.
Damon: sexy, dangerous, and driven by an urge for revenge against Stefan, the brother who betrayed him.
Elena finds herself drawn to both brothers . . . who will she choose?

Not as good as the show but not nearly as bad as I'd expected.
SO, this is a tough one to honestly review, i'm a big fan of the TV show and I see a lot of similarities although the plot and story are still very different... the main difference is Elena, Elena is basically Katherine in the books so that was a big difference to get use to.
Moving past that, Damon is painted in the same light as the first few VD series, the big bad with no good in him... anyone who's watched the show to its end knows that couldn't be further from the truth, I hope the following books will continue to shed more light on the characters as I know them but then again book and show are different so we will see!
Some changes just confuse me... Bonnie Bennett in the books is in fact a ginger Scottish Pagan, very different to the Salem esk story line I know. But again is it fare to compare book and TV?
100% i'll continue reading the story and its close enough to the show for me to enjoy it!
If your not a VD fan, I dont think these books will be for you, if your a fan of the show, there well worth a read!
This book really wasn't good. I've only watched a couple episodes of the tv show, but this is definitely one of those times when the tv/movie adaption is better (though apparently it is a very loose adaption). Elena, the main character (can't say heroine - she does absolutely nothing heroic)is snotty, shallow and arrogant. As is just about every other character in her little clique. The two brothers are stereotypical arrogant, dark brooding vampires. The plot rambles and drags and covers all the cliched “heroic” vampire plot points possible. Cliches+cheese+boring does not make for a good read.
