The Beauty

L.C. Mortimer makes you go “hmmmm” in The Beauty, the first book in the “Enchanted Academy” series.

Mortimer takes us on a ride in The Beauty and it is fun. Jessica is non-magical and remains so throughout the book. She is the only one who is concerned that Belle has disappeared. (The synopsis lies a bit here about Belle's disappearance.)

Mortimer has created in Jessica a character that will not take “No” for an answer even when she is shaking in her sneakers. She will go up against bullies and headmasters for people who may or may not be her friends. Jessica makes her own family and that kind of loyalty is a hero in the making and a wonderful launch to a new series.

I cannot wait to see where Mortimer takes Jessica and us in the “Enchanted Academy” series. I have to say that I am especially looking forward to Hook's story.
