I received this story in exchange for an honest review

This book was a great way to start a series!
A plot like this one could very easily veer into slut-shaming territory but The Beginning doesn't at all. It portrays the life of an escort as fun, enthusiastic and respectful.

It's a short read but in that limited time the author, Emma Jaye, crafted fully fleshed out, interesting characters that actually dealt with their own issues. An impressive amount of action and development was packed into this story, with a trio of characters that actually cared about eachother.

I liked all of the characters, and was impressed by Sasha's enthusiasm for her new career. I especially liked Max. He was a bit smarmy but fun to be around none-the-less. I'm usually picky about my heroes but Max just totally had me. Max and Sasha had amazing chemistry together which carried on through the entire story.

I have to admit I was a wee bit more interested in the character of Missy and wanted to know more about her, her life, and her relationship with her half-brother. Those two played off each other delightfully!

Why 4 stars? Well, I actually wish there was a teensy bit more smut in the scenes with Sasha and Max, some things feel slightly glossed over. And I feel maybe Sasha went a bit too far too fast. Or, it could have delved more into how she felt about being the centre of attention, how she had always had fantasies like this or something.

Also, there were weirdly sudden POV shifts. One moment Sasha would be thinking something, then Max would be thinking something. It was a little too omniscient for my preference. Maybe limit one POV to one character per scene. That probably knocked my rating down a star.

Yes, I do believe I'll revisit this series sometime in the near future. It's fun and sexy with great characters!
