Oh, how I wanted to love this so so much, but I couldn't. It was still a decent story, it just wasn't the right time for me to read this.

It definitely had everything I wanted: pirates, adventure, some sadness (my guilty pleasure in books is sadness, I know, weird).
Why did the book fell flat for me? Because of the romance. I expected a badass story with less romance than it had now. I felt like our main character spent most of the time looking at her love interest instead of doing awesome stuff. She had so much potential and it feels like she was mostly written in the story for her to fall in love. I don't really feel like pirates which are tough and harsh fall in love in a mushy, soft way. The romance definitely had the overhand at points in which I did not care for the story at anymore. It moved too slow and too much of the details went in describing our love interest. I'd rather see more detail in world building or any other epic battle scene or something!

Overall the story was decent, but I wanted more. I was curious to see how the story would develop and end.

Again, I liked the book, it just wasn't what I expected going into it. :p
