The very-respectable Colonel and Mrs Bantry have awakened to discover the body of a young woman in their library. She is wearing evening dress and heavy make-up, which is now smeared across her cold cheeks. But who is she? How did she get there? And what is her connection with another dead girl, whose charred remains are later discovered in an abandoned quarry? The Bantrys turn to Miss Marple to solve the mystery.

Dropped in overnight
botching carefully laid plans
hardly even missed.
Not sure how many Miss Marple's I've read but I was always surprised at how she picked up on things. I know she's imaginary, but still.
I found the plot complex enough to keep me focused on the story at the moment, and I don't think I figured out who it was until the last few paragraphs, which is how I like a mystery. And I'm so thankful the story isn't as dark and gory as many of the more recent authors are!
Oh that was a good one. No spoilers, but I really like the way things were done.
