five stars for what it is - that is, a mystery.
The “detective couple” is an art journalist and a cat that used to belong to an art critique.
I like the characters, I liked the plot. I didn't like the solution, because I liked the murderer. :-D I would have wanted to have them in future books.
This book was disapointing in many aspects, I was expecting a cozy mystery with a cat that helps the main character solve the case. And technically we got that, but this book was not cozy enough and the cat participation let a lot to be desired.
In this book there is no point of view of the cat, and since the main character has no experience in dealling with cats his responses to the cat actions were annoying, even though I have read books with characters that are interacting with cats for the first time and liked them, in this one I was left annoyed and disspaointed.
I will not continue with this series.
Good fun. (Okay, a little questionable in language and a little predictable in plot, but still: fun!) It turns out reading about an anthropomorphized moustache is nearly as much fun as reading about a cat with uncanny if not supernatural abilities to communicate with humans and possibly solve crimes. I'm used to unlikeable reporter characters, it was nice to encounter an amiable cat lover instead. Will continue in series.
