There is a murder and a fugitive out to get Colton and Winnie. Of course that offers plenty of excitement. And Colton's family shows up to offer some more intrigue.
The mystery is the kind where the last clue gives it all away. It almost takes a back seat to the family drama and the fugitive.
The solution to the murder is complicated. It isn't a straightforward bad guy. The fugitive makes everything more tense. But the people in Winnie's corner make you really root for her. I think it is those relationships make this book stand out. That and a goose named Kenny Rodgers!
