The Craftsman

I've read only a few Bolton novels but I've already come to know her as a master of psychological thrillers. It somehow slipped past me that this was touching witchcraft, but even if the supernatural theme isn't usually my thing, I found this novel very compelling. Bolton is quickly becoming a favourite of mine.

This is the first book I have read by Sharon Bolton. The Craftsman is a dark and gritty thriller that jumps between the 1960s and the 1990s. On the outside it's a police procedural but it's a lot more than that as it also deals with the gothic and macabre. It has a great main character in Florence as she tries to solve the case of missing children in the 60s as the past comes back to haunt her in the 90s. Thanks to Netgalley for the preview copy.
