This review is just to help me remember key points about the book. If you find it helpful or relatable that's cool too.
This book was not written for me. The blurb did not lead me to believe it was a children's Christian fantasy book. I tried to give it a fair go, but it felt like every chapter contained a different allegory about faith and religion.
Example One
Why does God do bad things?
“I was blinded to the answer by the closest closeness of pain. It was only by the passing of time that I was finally able to see the answer you see from the flames of Paragor's treachery, Alleble was reborn stronger than ever and the destiny of many in the realm changed in such a way that has brought about in calculable good.”
Example Two
Nonbelievers go to hell.
“When a person dies, his Glimpse also dies. If that person believed in the story of Alleble before death, he will become one with his Glimpse and go to be with King Elaim in the sacred realm beyond the sun. But if someone dies who disbelieves or is undecided he and his Glimpse become locked eternally in the torturous dungeons beneath the prince's crown.”
I absolutely loved Falon the
Mortiwraith as they had a cold design and the maze concept was interesting. I could imagine the perfect voice for her and I imagine she could do a killer winged eyeliner.
Imagine you just told your son that his grandfather had a heart attack and he's in the hospital and then he replies with. “It's okay Mum Grampin believes in Alleble and if he dies he'll be with the king in the sacred realm beyond the sun.”
Bros Grandpa is in the ICU on his deathbed and this kid is saying it's chill he's with the moonrascals, unicorn and dragons.
