Spurrier is improving as this series goes on, although it's not one for those who want quick resolutions (which, as with volume 1, likely makes it better to read all at once in this collected form than as monthly issues). It begins with a sort of love story that explains why Daniel/Dream has left his realm, and then follows up with a series of tales as Dora tries to track him down, and the new entity in charge of the realm tries to understand its own role and purpose. It's perhaps closer in style to the original Sandman than the prior volume, building more on the previously established continuity, and featuring stories about the nature of stories. For those worried about such things, there are a number of sexual references and partial nudity, but nothing explicit.
