Four stars only because it is a bit dry, and I wouldn't necessarily recommend it to everyone (though I would to anyone who wants to write well. Five stars in terms of helpfulness. I wish I had read this the summer going into my senior year of high school, as I was supposed to... my writing would have greatly improved. But I think even advanced writers can benefit from a brush up/reality check that this little book provides. Definitely keeping this one on my shelf!
Useful for what it is, if a bit poorly laid out. The more famous second edition is better.
This book has several qualities that make it perfect for my learning style: it is short, concise, and full of good examples. Case in point, I have learned how to use a colon in a sentence.
Great book teaching a lot of rules about writing. I'll take some time to apply its teachings.
