Weirdly enough it was a smidge too foreign. It was hard to picture where they were and the accents were harder to hear. There was an exceptional amount of detail. Detail about everything about dreams and thinking. It was maybe 300 pages longer than it could have been.
I enjoyed this twist on the well trodden disaster/apocalypse genre, making the protagonist a soft “man child” struggling to man up before the main event made for a different and sometimes funny read.
A solid read, if you're into this sort of thing.
I probably won't read it again, but I enjoyed my time with it and may even check out some of the authors other works.
