In the wake of a devastating disease, everyone sixteen and older is either dead or a decomposing, brainless creature with a ravenous appetite for flesh. Teens have barricaded themselves in buildings throughout London and venture outside only when they need to scavenge for food. The group of kids living a Waitrose supermarket is beginning to run out of options. When a mysterious traveler arrives and offers them safe haven at Buckingham Palace, they begin a harrowing journey across London. But their fight is far from over-the threat from within the palace is as real as the one outside it.

Well its really a nice surprise to read Zombie books from so many fresh perspectives. Here is one from the youth. In a world where age is the selection criteria for survival we follow a bunch of kids through their struggles in the search of safety. While Higson writes well, there are plenty of holes in the story. Glaringly, when the kids do find a temporary haven, they don't spend a moment enjoying it before the plot moves in a totally different direction. That apart the fact that Higson is not invested behind any of the protagonists makes this so not for the faint hearted. Be prepared for everyone to die and enjoy the ride.
CHRIST ON A CRACKER...I did not expect this book to be as good as it was (that cover is cringe worthy). But this was a seriously good bully romance. Ramsey was such a fucking asshole. I mean...legit fucking awful, but I loved him.
SIDE NOTE: The whole used condom thing was SOOOO nasty. I legit threw up in my mouth. Not sure the author needed to take it QUITE that far. (lol)
