Tara and Kyle are sent to stay with their estranged grandparents. But there's something very wrong with the house... and with its owners.

This was an easy and quick but good read. It's not fast paced but if done right I'm okay with that. I kept wanting to know what the secret was so the author did her job. I think she did a great job in describing the spooky parts. If you have a good enough imagination you could totally picture it..and then be spooked for a few seconds LoL
When you need an easy ghosty story this author is my favorite go-to. Read this one in a couple of hours while on a plane.
Honestly, I didn't know anything about Darcy Coates (except she seems to have an entire shelf to herself in the Horror section at Barnes and Noble) until I started reading this book. I had no idea she was a self-published wonder. Here we have a short, wicked little story (about 190 pages) and three really cool bonus short stories. I loved Crypt.
As for the main book, we have a teen girl and her brother being shuffled off to grandparents they have never met after mom gets into a car accident. While it is not exactly the same, if you loved the movie The Visit, you will love this.
The house is creepy, the grounds are creepy and the town is unfriendly and creepy.
I pretty much loved it.
I have Gillespie House laying around on the Kindle and will definitely be reading more Coates.
This novella felt like the old school ghost stories from when I was a kid. Weird family secrets and ghosts that are just barely there. I liked the explanation of what was happening and the ending. The way that Tara reacted when the worst of it was over was a good creepy touch. Quick, creepy ghost story.
