I had such a hard time getting through this book, it took me almost a month to finish it. I don't know if it's a matter of “lost in translation” but I found this book poorly written and so painfully boring. The protagonist (Louise) is so unlikable and annoying, there's a workplace “romance” that comes completely out of nowhere and makes no sense at all, plus there are too many unnecessary peripheral characters and side stories that have nothing to do with the core mystery. The main plot really only becomes interesting towards the last two chapters, and I personally couldn't care less about the best friend's relationship troubles or the elderly neighbor's garden. This book was okay but not great and I doubt I would recommend it to anyone.
