The Governess Game

Once again the banter in this book is on point. I laughed so much reading this one. I loved the inclusion of the kids and they even added some humor to the story. This one is cute and steamy just like the first book. I also love the inclusion of the couple from the first book. I did feel like the ending was a bit rushed but overall another great addition to this series. 

I really enjoyed it by the end. And I'm really happy that Alex made her dreams come true and became an astronomer! But must the woman always get pregnant at the end as a happy ending?

Wanted to see more cute domestic moments between Chase, Alex and the girls, because I absolutely adored them! <3333

This was such a surprise!! Such a fun romance, great characters, loved the weirdo kids too.

Listened to this on audio and absolutely loved the narrator.

I appreciate Tessa Dare creating well rounded female characters with hobbies and careers HOWEVER this one really really did not work for me. I found the hero really unlikeable and I missed the Duke of Ashford (hero from #1)

HOWEVER this book made me even more excited for Penny and all her animals (lol) so onto book #3!

I think this one was my least favourite of the three in the series. I didn't feel any depth to either of the main characters. Although, I enjoyed the storyline about Alexandra's past. To me, the children really stole the show. They were witty and smart. I felt their anger and sadness. As expected, I enjoyed seeing the Wallflowers (+ Ash and the mention of Gabriel) in this book.

Uma evolução considerável!!

Novamente, o título traduzido não tem absolutamente nada a ver com a história. O último adjetivo que daria para esse amor da estória seria conveniente. Porém, segue o jogo (com capas menos vergonhosas, pelo menos).

Não apenas um romance menos pah! = do nada estamos na cama (achei bem mais controlado e menos hot que outros já lidos por aí), mas também as meninas tiveram mais forma em suas personalidades, seus laços de amizade e suas posições como Wallflowers.

Neste volume o “drama” é menor do que o imaginado. Alex é uma personagem bem construida, razoavelmente sensata - novamente uma raridade na área dos romances de época, embora o pavor por embarcações, a tenha levado a ações imprudentes - e real, no sentido de ter reações expontâneas dentro de sua própria cabeça. Foi uma boa intervenção da autora para nos lembramos do Mulherengo da Livraria do primeiro volume.
E Chase (obs relevante: passei os primeiros momentos sofrendo calada pensando em Chase de o Clube dos Canalhas. Mas ainda bem que logo passou): dentro do meu padrão de beleza masculina (alto, moreno, olhos verdes, forte e sedutor), foi fácil se interessar por ele, mesmo com seus altos e baixos [e mesmo com essa relação libertina meio “oi?” dele... um pouco exagerado, e não sei se, como amante dele, toparia as coisas pela metadinha]. Bonito como o diabo, e carismático, ainda trazia consigo o super aperto ao útero que era sua realação com Daisy e Rosamund, e seu apego ao irmão.

Até mesmo o grand gesture na livraria me fez ficar feliz (por maior o pavor dessas coisas em vida real que eu tenha, e ainda julgue desnecessários nos romances).

O humor de Tessa Dare é o que mais me atrai em sua escrita leve. Gargalhadas altas foram dadas com John ajudando Chase a montar seu antro de perdição, com os devaneios romanticos de Alex, as reações super românticas de Penny e as super frias de Nic. Ash e seu jeito estorado. O sarcasmo e flerte de Chase a todo momento (que ele estava bom).

Senti que a tradução tem uns errinhos nessa edição Kindle. Mas, como não sou tradutora, me falta a moral para opinar com embasamento teórico - poderiam editar vários “vamos estar” e suas conjugações aqui e ali.

This book was a fun, light-hearted romp through Regency England. I liked that the main characters were not your typical hero and heroine and their antics combined with the chaos of the girls was a breath of fresh air in the Regency Romance genre.

This one was not as funny as the previous book, but it was okay. I liked the relationship between Alex and the girls more than the romance itself. A good one time read.

(4.5 stars, rounding up) So so good - I even liked the kids, which isn't always a guaranteed thing. Half-star off is because of the pacing, which has a lot of plot crammed in at the end, but it doesn't really detract from everything else about how great this is. The first two books in this series have been incredible and I can't wait for the next one. If you like historical romances, you need to be reading Tessa Dare.

I'm loving this series and loving the author.

I'm not even sure what to talk about at this point. I really enjoyed the characters and their hijinks. The little girls were adorable and fun. Alex is smart and enjoyable to follow around. Her rake is interesting as well.
Their relationship is not truly historically accurate, but that isn't the reason I read these books. I like the setting, clothing, and manners. :) It was fun, I laughed almost from page one and thoroughly enjoyed reading it. I plan on picking up the next volume as soon as it is available!

I will also be reading more Tessa Dare

Really enjoyed escaping into this one. Chase, next in line for his uncle's dukedom, is the guardian of two young girls (Daisy and Rosamund, ages 7 and 10) whose interests are death and thievery, respectively; Daisy's doll dies of a different malady every day. The book toes the line between these repeat deaths being something serious (and very important to Daisy) and comic, and I loved it. I also loved Alex as a heroine and her friends and their animals, and that she was an astronomer and tried to teach the girls piracy. Plus the dialogue was great. Chase had ... a lot of issues (as a person, not as a character), and that whole “he can't let people love him” thing was a bit overplayed as the book went on, but I still enjoyed their story.

DNF for now. I may come back to it, but about a third in and it just wasn't doing it for me. Based upon my friends' reviews, this is definitely a case of It's Me, Not You.
