This is the “bridge” book of the 7-book Death Gate cycle. It's a “bridge” because it basically tries to tie up the ends of the first four books and builds upon the main characters introduced earlier as well as bringing in other pivotal figures into the story. Don't read this if you haven't read the first four because it can get pretty confusing. The story starts off slow at first but the pack does pick up (a bit) towards the end.
Good. There was a bit of a pokey plot but nothing compared to the slog of The Elven Star. Considering keeping the series when after book 2 and 3, I was going to finish to put it in the free library.
