I like reading Elin Hilderbrand's books in the summer because most, if not all of her books on set on Nantucket. Or close to it.
Such as the case with The Island. I liked that it was set off Nantucket and it was quieter than the glamor of Nantucket. Each woman had her own secrets and burden to bear. Only the sister pairs confided in each other. I felt the mother daughter aunt relationships weren't as developed.
The ending felt right for some. I felt Birdie's ending was unrealistic and was done so all the women got what they needed or wanted at the end.
Overall, it was a good read! It kept me wanting to read more.
