The King's Man

3.25 stars. This is a tough book to review. It was beautifully written, and I definitely felt the chemistry between the hero and heroine. But it was a very dark love, with lots of sex, a fair amount of cruelty, but little tenderness. The author refers to Laura Kinsale as her “fairy godmother,” so if you were a big fan of [b:Flowers from the Storm 360259 Flowers from the Storm Laura Kinsale https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1275622146s/360259.jpg 788122], and other meaty medieval historical romances of the 1990s you will not be disappointed. Kingston is very talented, but her style doesn't work for me.
