somehow, this book was even worse than the first one. well, the first one wasn't terrible, it just took a very long time introducing the characters and it wasn't executed very well. in this second book i expected more adventure and jamie finally showing his potential. but no, all we got was charlotte being difficult (again) and jamie being in the dark and still... kind of useless.

this is the kind of book that i read quickly just to get it over with, not necessarily because i enjoyed it. although i didn't enjoy this book, the mystery lover in my just needs to know what happens to the characters. i'm probably still going to read the next book in the series because i love the concept of a modern day sherlock holmes so much that i'm still going to give the series a chance. the next book, the case for jamie has a better rating than its predecessors, so i'll probably read it, BUT it's definitely not high on my book queue.
