In this debut novel and series starter, the last member of a murdered House searches for a missing nobleman, and uncovers clues about his own tortured past. The overall story was very compelling. There were some confusing and less-explained points. Also it felt like Rune and Brand were unnecessarily violent at times, which could be part of what the author is trying to portray, but slightly detracted from my enjoyment of the story.
