I had stopped reading Lily Morton's contemporary M/M romances because they were becoming too sweet and cutesy, but this book restored my faith in her considerable talents. Take her typical somewhat prickly but also adorable characters, put them into a paranormal setting with a homicidal ghost, and wow, you really have a memorable book. Levi is a lovely human being, Blue is skittish but slowly accepting of Levi's affection, and the paranormal stuff is scary AF. I especially liked the slow burn romance (Levi doesn't want Blue to think he expects sex for inviting Blue to stay in his haunted house; Blue thinks Levi wouldn't want a homeless guy who did what he had to do to survive) that has real communication and few Big Misunderstandings. Morton leaves the door wide open for future adventures of this couple and I'm on board all the way.
