I think what I like best about Sienna Waters is that she takes chances with her characters. Waters is not afraid to write a character that might not be likeable. She crafts a character that is human. In The Opposite of You she constructs a character that has had to commit survival crimes to save her family and herself. This is a story I am very familiar with as I work with organizations to stop children from being persecuted from committing survival crimes.
I love both Mac and Eleanor. There is nothing easy about their relationship as not only Mac has a suitcase of trouble she is bringing to the table, but Eleanor has her own issues. Waters creates women who you might know in your real life. They have problems, hang ups, and just want to find some happiness in this world. Waters also creates characters that you want to root for.
I love this story. I think I crush hard on Waters. I definitely crush on Mac. I think you will too.
I received an ARC of this book and I am writing a review without prejudice and voluntarily.
