It's always fun to pick up an Outdoor Girls adventure and go along for the ride. In this one, Betty's mother has inherited a ranch, and eager offers to buy it have the family suspicious. Since it's in gold country, of course they must go out and see if there's gold to be found! There's a bit of a mystery with a hermit violinist as well.
Lower rating for believability! The bad guys openly discuss their plans with each other within hearing of hidden good guys. The four girls on four thoroughbred horses are in “imminent peril” from two timber wolves (they'd have to be pretty desperate wolves to take on prey that numerous)...etc, etc.
Content: a horse is named n*; two profanities in French
