I really enjoyed the premise of this story. The language aspect is what drew me to the book and it was quite interesting. The world was a bit difficult to get into, I had a hard time understanding the government and the setup of the society. Not much is fully explained, so I was blindly guessing for a good portion of the book. The characters are also lacking, I guess? They're not very developed, so I didn't connect to then very well. And the romance between Charlie and Max was definite instalove.
I don't know how to feel about the ending. It's just left open, but I feel like that was only done to allow the next installment. It makes the storyline feel unnatural. That being said, it was a good read and I'm looking forward to reading the next one.
