Holy! This book was much faster compared to book 1. Lots of crazy stuff happened in it. Not even a second of it was boring.
1 star less because I'm not sold on the ending plot (aha I need to be convinced more). But the reveal near the end was mind-blowing!
Ediss is my favourite character till now. The portrayal of PTSD and anxiety was good in this. I liked whenever the Magus showed up because the banter is awesome so need him more in the books.
The plots and plans undertaken in the story were marvelous and well thought out. Except THAT thing near the end. What the heck was that? Has Eugenides lost his mind?!
Better! to trust! in the moon's!!! promises!!!! than the word!! of the thief!! of eddis!!!! he was famous!!!! in three! countries!!!! for his! lies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
3.5 stars.
Is it weird I like the first book better? I think the newness of the story was what I enjoyed in the first one. With the second book, I was more familiar with the author's style and the way she likes to reveal big plot twists, so it wasn't as surprising and unexpected. Overall still an enjoyable classic fantasy read.
