This story passes on Aurora, the largest of the habited worlds. The main characters are still the same, Deneel and Elijah, and some characters of previous books play important roles as well.

It has the same qualities of the previous books and it still manages to impress by the nature of the character dialogues. There is still a bit of romance, very well laid out, emotional enough and consistent with Isimov's intelligent writing style.

The plot revolves around a “roboticide”, and the consequences it can have for the future of mankind. It starts off as a problem with no possible solution and gradually, as we learn about the planet's culture and the character relations, a very well thought reasoning is presented to solve the situation.
