What if during the blitz of London, princesses Elizabeth and Margaret were sent to Ireland for their safety. This is the premise that begins the new Benjamin Black historical thriller. The complicated relationship between Ireland and Britain at this time is at the heart of most of the dramatic conflict in the book. Can MI5 trust the Irish police force? What if the locals find out the identity of the two girls? These and many more issues that crop up are handled expertly by Black as the book satisfies both as historical fiction and as a crime thriller.
