The Shadow of War by Jeff Shaara - A novel of the Cuban missile crisis.

It's 1961 and John F Kennedy is in the midst of the failed invasion of Cuba and set into motion the problems between the USA and Soviet union.

The book is a wonderfully written and well researched book on the Cuban missile crisis. I actually didn't know much about it until I started this book. It was a real eye opener. The book comes from so many perspectives and this format of a book is usually not a winner for me but the way the author pieced together the story from so many different POVs, it was fantastic. It actually had me on the edge of my seat. I don't think this has happened to me with historical fiction before. The USA was teetering on the edge of what could have a catastrophic war and this book really does pile drive this point home.

Very good read 4.5 stars
