I enjoyed the first book quite a bit, and I think I liked this second one a bit more. The mix of history, myth, fantasy, time travel and romance is a blend I already love, so perhaps I am biased, but Heidi also puts a lot of emotion behind it and Nix is a character I really like and felt for throughout the story, even when she was making questionable decisions. Not to mention Kashmir, who I think takes the cake for most likeable love interest. I really enjoyed visiting the mythical, slightly creepy, city of Ker Ys. It made a great backdrop for a story that really mostly focuses on relationships, fate and whether or not it is right or just to change the past and the future. There were a lot of twists and turns that kept me flipping pages and the end was a heart-wrenching, emotional ride that left me drained, but satisfied. I really hope there are more to come in the series, because I really enjoyed them both and would love to follow Nix, Kash and the crew on more adventures.
